Terms of Service

By accessing or using Sidequest, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users, including quest posters and quest doers.

Sidequest is designed for UCLA students. By using the platform, you represent that you are a current or recently enrolled UCLA student and at least 18 years of age. We reserve the right to verify your affiliation and suspend accounts that do not meet eligibility requirements.

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate information including your name, email, courses, and skills
• You may not create multiple accounts or impersonate another person
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

Posting quests

Users can post quests (quests) with a title, description, required courses/skills, and a credit offer. A credit value of 0 means the quest is free, and positive values represent credits on the platform. You agree that quest descriptions are accurate and do not violate community guidelines.

Bidding and accepting

Other users may bid on open quests with a proposed credit/cash amount. The quest poster decides which bid to accept. Once accepted, the quest status changes to in-progress and both parties are expected to fulfill their obligations.

Completion and disputes

Quests can be marked as completed by either party. If a dispute arises, the quest enters a disputed state and Sidequest may mediate. After completion, both parties may leave reviews with a rating and comment.

Credits

New accounts start with a default credit balance. Credits are earned by completing quests and spent by posting quests. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred outside the platform.

You may not:

• Post quests that involve academic dishonesty (e.g. completing graded assignments for someone)
• Engage in fraud, manipulation of reviews or ratings, or bid manipulation
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
• Use the platform for any illegal activity
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to access other users’ data
• Circumvent platform systems including the credit or dispute resolution systems

Reviews are tied to specific quests and include a numeric rating and optional comment. Reviews must be honest and related to the quest experience. We reserve the right to remove reviews that are abusive, fraudulent, or violate these terms. By posting content on Sidequest, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display that content on the platform.

By using Sidequest you consent to receiving platform notifications about quest updates, bids, reviews, and other marketplace activity. You can manage notification preferences in your account settings.

Sidequest is a marketplace connecting users. We are not a party to any transaction between users and do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of quests posted. Sidequest is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sidequest shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may also delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately, though certain provisions of these terms (including limitation of liability) survive.

We may modify these terms at any time. We’ll notify users of material changes through the platform. Continued use of Sidequest after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
